Loved to read your blog. I would like to suggest you that traffic show most people read blogs on Mondays. So it should encourage bloggers to write new write ups over the weekend primarily.
regards
charcoal grill

@erinbury,

That's exactly it. Raising money either extends the runway or changes the rate of climb (to continue aircraft takeoff metaphor). Raising money allows you to purchase fuel, hire a crew, pay the lease on the plane, purchase salty snacks and beverages for resale, ongoing aircraft maintenance, gate access, etc. It might allow you to do new advertising, or open routes to new destinations, or to revamp your web presence to sell more seats, etc. But the ultimate goal is to prove your business.

Great post - I think you're right, you need to have competition (or at least feel the need to be the first at something), a sense of urgency, clear goals, and manageable constraints when working at a startup or as an entrepreneur. You need to set big goals so you're working towards greatness. In the case of the lunar landing, their goal could definitely be labelled as big, hairy & audacious - but they achieved it. I also really like your point that raising money should be the beginning - this provides you with a runway, and that's when you can work on the achieving the goals you've set out for yourself.
