Good article! I agree with Sylvian re Technology which generally plays a major part in any startup. Technology has to be right on all the time - does not necessarily need to be complex...

Great article! I would also an additional error I have seen over and over again is not having a proper marketing campaign. If no one knows you're there how are you going to stay in business. Then there's the, all too often, huge marketing campaign either not surveyed or based upon old demographics, etc. I have a start up company and have found that most of the time the the best advertising is free or fairly inexpensive if you have the correct tools. Our online business is growing month by month and all of our advertising is free. The only thing we are looking into right now is giving google adwords one more try. We found a new software that scores your ad copy for you, Glyphius. It's supposed to be better than the leading software.

Great stuff, David. Really good reminders in there for all of us. Number 7 I've always found to be the most difficult.

It's intersting to notice that there's not a lot of concern about technology.

As a CTO, I find this interesting, maybe not intuitive at first but entirely true. Technology will kill you in production if it's not up to speed, but seldom in the early days...
