JobLoft makes an exit

JobLoft2JobLoft, the Toronto-based company at the center of the Dragon’s Den soap opera last year has finally been paid their due. In a move that both shows how much you do not want investment from the Dragon’s Den, and which shows how a little hard work pays off, JobLoft is being acquired by OnTargetJobs.

OnTargetJobs runs a network of job boards including Hcareers, which caters to the hospitality industry. Our guess is that JobLoft’s map functionality will be brought to Hcareers. OnTargetJobs is backed by Warburg Pincus. No word yet on the acquisition details, but we’ll try and scoop TechCrunch.

Congrats to the JobLoft crew on a successful exit.

I remember watching that episode a few months ago, and first thought “Why are these guys even presenting to these people?” then realized that it was probably good publicity. When I saw them actually accept the money ($200,000 for 50% I think), I couldn’t believe it. Valuation at $400k!?

I am glad reason took over later on, and they decided to part with the money.

Exit by acquisition was JobLoft’s only option after the Dragon’s Den debacle and the exposure they received from being on the show likely contributed to that end. The sad fact is that as a result of the JobLoft’s decision to side with James Norrie, despite his highly unprofessional, unjustifiable, and frankly rude treatment of the Dragon’s Den investors, this company was unfundable.
Congrats to the boys on the exit, they had good functionality and Dragon’s Den gave them great exposure. Though with some investment capital they would likely have been able to build out the model and garner a better price.

Is it just me, or should “An Investors Perspective” be re-titled to “A Dragon’s Perspective”?
